Forest View Racquet and Fitness Club Parking Gets Facelift
Patrons will have more open spaces to park at the Forest View Racquet and Fitness Club this fall.

Forest View Racquet and Fitness Club will be upgrading their parking lot this fall to with approval from the Board of Commissioners Tuesday night.
Scott Elman, park planner for the district, presented the parking improvement plan, citing that planning and Forest View staff concluded there was a strong need to expand and improve the parking lot to safely accommodate patrons and reduce on-street parking.
District staff said upgrading the parking lot is an opportune time to improve the scope with the tennis courts construction project also scheduled during this time.

With design plans removing the seventh (southeast) tennis court, the parking lot will be expanded from to 35 spaces.
The district has awarded Abbey Paving Co., Inc. with a $231,864 contract to complete the work. Elman said would be completed toward the end of October but could change due to weather.
Bid packages were provided to 23 firms for the forest view parking lot improvements. Bids were opened on Aug. 29, with six contractors returning bids, said Elman.
- From the bid submittals, Abbey Pacing Co., Inc. was the apparent low bidder.

The project includes total removal of the existing parking lot asphalt and stone bases, concrete curb and a portion of concrete sidewalk and the existing parking lot lighting.
New concrete curb, side, stone base, asphalt and energy efficient LED lighting will be installed. New yellow parking lot striping will then be installed as turf restoration.
The Forest View lot improvement project is budgeted for a total of $120,100 in the 2012-13-district budget.
Forest View, however, is zoned as a Planned Unit Development, has to meet new requirements that accommodate Arlington Heights largest fire truck, parking stalls to include larger landscape islands, a new dumpster enclosure and create two-way driving isles, increased the total cost of the lot improvement.
The district budgeted $621,000 for the tennis court reconstruction but the project came under budget at $360,000, leaving $261,000 project balance, which will be used to offset additional parking lot costs.
