Full-Day Kindergarten Approved Narrowly In Arlington Heights D25

The $75 million bond issue, which also includes capital improvements, passed by less than 50 votes.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — Though it won't go into effect until August 2024, full-time kindergarten will be coming to Arlington Heights School District 25. Voters last week narrowly passed a $75 million referendum to fund all-day kindergarten, as well as address capital project needs throughout the district, in the June 28 primary election.

According to unofficial results from the Cook County Clerk's Office, the bond issue passed by a vote of 5,224 votes (50.24 percent) for "Yes," over 5,175 votes (49.76 percent) for "No."

District 25 said the passage of the initiative would build 25 classrooms to support a full-day kindergarten program beginning with the 2024-2025 school year. The district said it will also address aging facility needs.
