Gay Marriage Separates 27th District Senate Candidates
Gay marriage divides 27th District Senate candidates, David Page and Sen. Matt Murphy, the Daily Herald reports.

In his first run for state legislature, Arlington Heights Elementary District 25 school board President David Page said gay rights is an important issue he wants to address in the state, the Daily Herald reports.
The 27th senate district candidate said equality for the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) community is an issue that directly impacts his family; according to the newspaper, Page said his brother is gay.
Page’s opponent, incumbent state Sen. Matt Murphy has voted against the civil union legislation. The Daily Herald reports, Murphy said he would not support a gay marriage law. According to the newspaper, Murphy said the 27th senate district race should be about the state’s financial troubles not social issues.
