Hearts Of Gold Winners Announced In Arlington Heights
Nominees were submitted by members of the community and winners were selected by members of the Special Events Commission.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — When local residents go above and beyond the call of duty to serve their community and residents in Arlington Heights, there's a chance their hearts get recognized by those that notice. Since last October, the Village has been seeking nominees for its annual Hearts of Gold program and announced the winners Thursday.
According to the Village's website, the winners are:
- Kent Borghoff: Mentor Heart of Gold
- Mike & Sheri Haas: Best Neighbor Heart of Gold
- Chris Barnum: Educator Heart of Gold
- Paul Kochendorfer: "Young at Heart" Heart of Gold
- Tony and Doreen Jannotta: Heroic Heart of Gold
- Evan Watanuki: Young Champion Heart of Gold
- Frank Lesniak: Volunteer Heart of Gold
- Theresa Schultz: Community Spirit Heart of Gold
- Becky Reel: Business Leadership Heart of Gold
- Michelle Derechowski: Kenneth M. Bonder Beautification Heart of Gold
- Kari Resch: Pam Stocking Heart of Gold

The Village's special events commission oversees the nomination process from submissions by members of the community and then votes for the winners.
A banquet ceremony for the honorees is scheduled for 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 26, at DoubleTree Hilton, 75 W. Algonquin Road. Luncheon reservations are $45 each and tables of 10 are available for $450.
