The Arlington Heights Park District provides free, unsupervised ice skating and ice hockey rinks throughout Arlington Heights.

Rinks are maintained at the following locations: Camelot, Frontier, Heritage, Hickory Meadows, Pioneer and Recreation Parks. At Heritage, Frontier and Pioneer Parks, ice hockey rinks with boards will also be maintained.

Park District personnel begins flooding these rinks during the first prolonged cold spell (22 degree highs for four to five days) after December 15. The rinks need to be flooded for a period of at least four consecutive days of temperatures of 22 degrees or below before they are ready for skating.

Neither ice skating nor sledding is allowed at Arlington Lakes Golf Club, at Lake Arlington or at the Nickol Knoll Golf Club. Conditions are never safe, regardless of extremely cold weather. The constant flow of water in these lakes does not allow them to freeze solid enough for skaters.
