ID Of Fatal Stabbing Victim Released: Des Plaines PD

A 50-year-old Des Plaines resident died last week from injuries sustained during a stabbing incident in an apartment building.

DES PLAINES, IL — The identification of a stabbing victim last Friday in Des Plaines has been released. Roberta S. Langan, 50, of Des Plaines, died from her injuries after being taken to a local hospital.

Police said Wednesday the case remains under investigation and they have identified a person of interest.

Langan was found with multiple stab wounds in the hallway of an apartment building in the 1400 block of Ashland Avenue the evening of Dec. 5. Police had been called to the apartment building at around 9:27 p.m. and found Langan in the hallway. They provided first aid to her until the Des Plaines Fire Department arrived and took Langan to the hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.

A subsequent investigation led police to believe it was an isolated incident with no threat to the community. The Major Case Assistance Team is assisting Des Plaines police with the investigation.
