Indictment For Man Charged With Killing Daughter-In-Law Outside Schaumburg Hotel: Report
Roland Schmidt, 76, fatally shot Christine Moyer outside a hotel last month after finding out the Ohio woman was divorcing his son.

SCHAUMBURG, IL — A man accused of fatally shooting his daughter-in-law last month outside a Schaumburg hotel has been indicted. Roland Schmidt, 76, of Stillman Valley, is being charged with first-degree murder in the July 25 death of Christine Moyer, 45, of Galena, Ohio.
The Daily Herald is reporting the indictment was handed down Friday by a Cook County judge. Schmidt remains in the Cook County Jail.
As Patch reported in July, an investigation revealed that Schmidt was upset with Moyer for filing divorce paperwork with his son. According to police, the two were guests of a wedding being held at a Marriott hotel at 50 N. Martingale Road. Moyer was leaving the event at around 10:15 p.m. July 25, and Schmidt reportedly followed her outside to the parking lot. He approached her and shot her in the head. A firearm was discovered at the scene.
