John Hersey Ranked Nationally, Top 10 in State

John Hersey High School was ranked among the best in the country by U.S. News & World Report.

The magazine evaluated nearly 22,000 public high schools in 49 states and the District of Columbia. Schools were awarded gold, silver, or bronze medals based on state proficiency standards, how well they prepare students for college, and other factors.

John Hersey High School ranked 304th in the country and 10th in Illinois. Overall Illinois had 20 gold medal schools, 51 silver medal schools, and 84 bronze medal schools.

The high school has a 76 percent proficiency rating in reading, 77 percent in math and a 52.9 percent rating on the college readiness index.
