Body Found In Pond Is Missing 26-Year-Old Man: Elk Grove Village PD
Alexis Ramirez, of Elk Grove Village, had gone missing last month after a single-car accident.

ELK GROVE VILLAGE, IL - Police have identified a man found dead and fully clothed in a retention pond Thursday as a 26-year-old resident who went missing last month. The body of Alexis Ramirez, who has not been seen since a single-car accident on March 10, was discovered by emergency personnel responding to a report regarding a body in the water in the 700 block of Innovation Drive.
Police said Thursday night officers and members of the Elk Grove Village Fire Department found Ramirez, who was showing no signs of life, at around 3:21 p.m. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office is scheduled to perform an autopsy.
Ramirez went missing on the evening of March 10 after he was the sole occupant of a single-vehicle accident that occurred near Higgins Road and Brennan Boulevard.

Police believe Ramirez fled the scene of the accident and immediately conducted an extensive search of the area utilizing a police K-9, a drone and sonar equipment provided by the fire department on two separate occasions. This search, along with interviews with family and friends, did not produce any information that would have led police to Ramirez’s whereabouts.

There is no evidence of foul play and no threat to the community, according to Elk Grove Village police, who sent heartfelt condolences to Ramirez's family and friends. An investigation is ongoing.
