Man Charged With Sexually Assaulting Minor: Palatine PD

PALATINE, IL — A 21-year-old South Elgin man is facing three felony charges after being accused of traveling to Palatine and sexually assaulting a minor. Juan Castro-Alvarez, of the 1500 block of Gilpen Avenue, was arrested Wednesday and charged with sexual assault, grooming and traveling to meet a minor.

Castro-Alvarez is currently detained in the Cook County Department of Corrections. He is due back in court on Oct. 10.

Police launched an investigation into Castro-Alvarez after a minor came forward to their mother about the abused, which allegedly occurred earlier this year.

The Cook County State's Attorney's Office approved the charges.
