Man Nabbed For Armed Robbery, Suspect In Others: Schaumburg PD
Police were investigating an area where a number of recent robberies have occurred Saturday when they saw the 24-year-old suspect.

SCHAUMBURG, IL — A 24-year-old Schaumburg man, suspected in multiple armed robberies in the area, has been arrested and charged with two felonies stemming from an October 2024 incident. Benjamin Lazzarotto, 24, is accused of felony unlawful possession of a weapon, armed robbery with a firearm, and was arrested Saturday after attempting to flee police.
The Cook County State's Attorney's Office approved the charges. Lazzarotto is currently being held in the Cook County Jail and is due back in court Wednesday.
Schaumburg police said they were conducting surveillance in the area of Algonquin and Meacham roads for a male suspect — later identified as Lazzarotto — connected to multiple armed robberies in the area.

Detectives saw Lazzarotto near a convenience store. When officers approached him, police said he attempted to flee and was apprehended a short distance away. While fleeing, he tossed a 9mm pistol into a yard, according to police. Police recovered the gun and placed Lazzarotto under arrest.

During the investigation, police said they uncovered evidence linking Lazzarotto to an armed robbery at a Shell gas station, 2501 N. Meacham Road, on Oct. 29, 2024.
"I commend our officers for their professionalism and dedication to protecting our residents while ensuring this arrest was handled peacefully," Schaumburg Police Chief Bill Wolf said.
