Man Steals Customer's Wallet At Jewel: Arlington Heights PD Blotter

The wallet was removed from the customer's purse, according to police.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — The following information comes from the Arlington Heights Police Department and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court.

RETAIL THEFT

  • Jaleel S. Ataa, 30, is accused of retail theft, and was arrested March 8 at Kohl's, 800 W. Dundee Road. A court date of April 17 was assigned.
  • Winfred U. Barnett, 57, is accused of retail theft, and was arrested March 13 at Joann Fabrics, 373 E. Palatine Road. Bond was set at $50,000 and a court date of March 19 was assigned.
  • Boris Gershgorin, 75, is accused of retail theft, and was arrested March 10 at Goodwill, 900 W. Algonquin Road. He was released and assigned a court date of April 9.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

Angel J. Cruz, 36, is accused of criminal damage to property, and was arrested March 10 at E. Rand Road and E. Euclid Avenue. He was released and assigned a court date of April 17.

CRIMINAL TRESPASS TO STATE SUPPORTED LAND

  • Richard Decesare, 34, is accused of criminal trespass to state supported land, and was arrested March 11 at the Parking Garage Underground, 35 S. Evergreen Ave. He was released and assigned a court date of April 9.
  • Manuel Gomez is accused of criminal trespass to state supported land, and was arrested March 11 at the Parking Garage Underground, 35 S. Evergreen Ave. He was released and assigned a court date of April 9.
  • Ryan Neises, 22, is accused of criminal trespass to state supported land, and was arrested March 11 at the Parking Garage Underground, 35 S. Evergreen Ave. He was released and assigned a court date of April 9.
  • James Turner, 40, is accused of criminal trespass to state supported land, and was arrested March 11 at the Parking Garage Underground, 35 S. Evergreen Ave. He was released and assigned a court date of April 9.

IDENTITY THEFT

Virgil M. Houston, 30, is accused of identity theft, and was arrested March 11 in the 200 block of E. Sigwalt Street. He was released and assigned a court date of April 16.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

Jack Rene Kennedy, 47, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration level of .08 or more, and was arrested March 9 in the 1900 block of New Wilke Road. He was released and assigned a court date of April 24.

LEAVING THE SCENE OF AN ACCIDENT

Luis Alberto Martinez Hernandez, 24, is accused of leaving the scene of a car accident, driving on a suspended license, and was arrested March 11 in the 2000 block of W. Nichols Road. He was released and assigned a court date of March 25.

INCIDENTS

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO VEHICLE

  • A resident in the 500 block of E. Seegers Road reported that between March 4 and March 7, someone keyed her black Volkswagen on two occasions.
  • A citizen called police to report that during the overnight hours of March 8, someone shattered the rear passenger window on their silver Nissan while it was parked at Kohl's, 800 W. Dundee Road.

MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT

A citizen called police at 10:40 a.m. March 8, to report someone stole his black Jeep Grand Cherokee from the parking lot. Surveillance video showed the subject arrived in a dark-colored Dodge Charger

THEFT

A customer at Jewel, 440 E. Rand Road, reported at 8:38 a.m. March 9, someone stole her wallet from her purse. The subject was described as a black male, stocky build, wearing a black and red winter hat, white face mask, black jacket, black pants and black Nike shoes. The subject left in a silver 4-door sedan with heavily tinted windows.

VANDALISM

A resident of the 1600 block of E. Fleming Drive South called police at 10:30 p.m. March 8, to report someone had "egged" their residence.

RETAIL THEFT

An employee at Walgreens, 3 E. Golf Road, reported that between 9:32 p.m. and 9:43 p.m. March 10, two people stole approximately $400 worth of medical and beauty supplies. The subjects arrived and left in a white Chrysler van.

The subjects were described as:

  • White female, 20 to 30 years old, brown hair, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants carrying a large black purse
  • White male, 20 to 30 years old, tall, slender build, wearing a black sports jacket, black pants and black shoes.

BURGLARY TO MOTOR VEHICLE

A resident in the 1100 block of S. Old Wilke Road reported at 1 a.m. March 11, someone entered her white Ford Escape and rummaged through the inside.
