Mother Of 5 Killed In Elk Grove Crash Was 'Selfless Leader': GoFundMe
The Des Plaines woman died from injuries sustained in a two-car crash Tuesday evening in Elk Grove Village.

ELK GROVE VILLAGE, IL — While an investigation continues into a late Tuesday night car crash that left a Des Plaines woman dead, her family is looking for help with funeral expenses for the mother of five. Andrea Garcia, 45, was killed in a crash involving two cars that occurred at around 11:22 p.m. at the intersection of Biesterfield and Meacham roads.
Though Garcia's cause of death has not been released by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office, police said other people involved in the crash, including three juveniles, were taken to nearby hospitals with injuries, and have since been released.
Meanwhile, a GoFundMe was set up Wednesday to help cover Garcia's funeral expenses. The campaign is hoping to raise $30,000. As of Thursday afternoon, nearly $8,000 has been raised from 135 donations.

According to the campaign, Garcia's youngest child turned 4 on May 17, and another child recently graduated from middle school.

While no charges have been filed in the case, Elk Grove Village police said a preliminary has revealed the crash involved a northbound Lexus, occupied by three children and one adult, and an eastbound Honda, occupied by one adult, identified as Garcia. She was taken to an area hospital after the crash and pronounced dead. Police believe the Lexus had disobeyed a red traffic signal at the intersection.
