New Medical Facility Coming to Arlington Heights

Medspring's urgent care center will open in December

A new medical urgent care center is coming to Arlington Heights before the year’s end.

Medspring is expected to open one of two Chicago area locations at 960 W. Dundee Road, in Arlington Heights’ Ridge Plaza in December.

It will be Medspring’s first foray into the Chicago Market.

Presently, the company has six locations in Austin, Texas, and five in Houston.

As they expand into the Chicago area, they will be opening two spots – one in Arlington Heights, and one in Naperville.

“When we evaluated new markets to enter, we believed the residents of Chicagoland would be receptive to the convenient, reliable health care that we are offering,” said Jon Belsher, Medspring's chief medical officer.

Medspring will offer services similar to an immediate care center.

Inside, he said, the center will have labs and x-rays on site, along with a physician on staff.

“We are able to treat a wide range of injuries and illnesses from cuts, sprains and broken bones to coughs, allergies and infections,” he said.

“We offer an affordable, convenient option to the emergency room for non-life threatening medical conditions,” he added. “The average Medspring visit lasts less than an hour compared to the national average of four hours for an emergency room visit.”

Belsher also said visiting a Medspring center should be cheaper than going to an emergency room.

“While co-pays vary by insurance provider, Medspring patients can expect to pay $35 to $50, compared to typical ER co-pays of $100 to $200 or more,” he said. “For those without insurance or with a high deductible, the savings can be even more dramatic with a typical Medspring visit costing under $200 compared to well over $1,000 for a comparable ER visit.”

Once it opens in December, the center is expected to be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., he said.

Walk-ins are welcome, and appointments are available.

Belsher said in addition to the health care they offer, they also have amenities including complimentary snacks and beverages, in-room televisions and activities for children.
