New Restaurant Opens in Arlington Heights
Gail's Carriage Place serves homey food in an informal environment.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — A new breakfast restaurant has opened it's doors and replaced where The Honeyberry Cafe used to be earlier this year.
Gail's Carriage Place, which is also located in Des Plaines and Buffalo Grove, took over the space at 306 E. Rand Road in Arlington Heights.
Known for their homey meals like pecan apple pancakes and an omelette encased in hash browns, Gail's Carriage Place is a casual, family friend restaurant perfect for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. The restaurant will hold 240 seats.

Honeyberry didn't have a license to serve liquor, but Gail's Carriage Place owner Gail Janczak was in front of the Arlington Heights village board on Monday, requesting a license for full-service liquor sales. Janczak wants the license to sell beverages like mimosas during brunch hours, The Daily Herald reports.
"It's not something I think we would do a lot, but I do get asked for it," Janczak said at the meeting, according to The Daily Herald.

Right now, Gail's Carriage Place will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. every day. Under the liquor license, the restaurant will be able to sell liquor started at 8 a.m. Monday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. on Sundays. The village board will take a final vote on the liquor license at their next meeting in October.
Janczak said she may consider keeping the restaurant open for dinner after the first year, but for now it will serve breakfast, brunch, and lunch.
"Thank you for opening this business," Trustee John Scaletta said at the meeting, according to The Daily Herald. "I think it's a great location for a restaurant like this."
