Olive-Mary Stitt Students “Fill the Nest” with Food

Students at Olive-Mary Stitt School in Arlington Heights participated in the "Fill the Nest" food drive.

Full of food donations, brown paper bags filled the stage and lined the floor at Olive-Mary Stitt Elementary School in Arlington Heights Friday.

OMS students participated in the school’s annual “Fill the Nest” food drive for the Wheeling Township Food Pantry. Part of the school’s weeklong service project, students took home donation bags to fill with non-perishable food items Oct. 19.

One week later, hundreds of the donations bags had been returned to the school to “Fill the Nest” at the food pantry. The school was so full of donations, students and families formed a human chain from the school’s stage all the way to the car line out front. In the OMS parking lot at 303 E. Olive Street, volunteers loaded up cars with bags of food to be taken to the Wheeling Township Food Pantry
