Online Transparency Audit Highlights Local Government

The village of Arlington Heights and Cook County received a passing grade for government transparency online from a recent Illinois Policy Institute audit, according to a Daily Herald analysis.

In its audit, the Illinois Policy Institute looked at access to contact information online as well as public meetings, public records, budgets, audits, expenditures, contracts, taxes and more, according to the Illinois Policy Institute website.

The Daily Herald analysis found of the 102 suburban government agencies in the audit, 70 had scores of 60 percent or below. The village of Arlington Heights received a score of 84 out of 100 and Cook County had a score of 65.2, according to the Daily Herald.
