Pace Suburban Bus Expands On-Demand Services For Northwest Cook County

ROLLING MEADOWS, IL — Pace Suburban Bus recently launched its expanded Northwest Cook County On-Demand service, which the company says will provide additional transportation options for residents and visitors in the northwest suburbs.

According to Pace, based in Arlington Heights, the expansion aims to simplify travel to daily destinations such as medical appointments, schools, shopping centers, employment hubs, and connections to the regional transit system.

Last month, the Cook County Board of Commissioners approved $180,000 to the expansion pilot for Arlington Heights-Rolling Meadows. According to Cook County, the service will double the size of the current service zone and encompass major destinations such as Harper College and the Palatine Metra station, and increase the weekday hours of service.

Pace held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on March 5 in front of Rolling Meadows City Hall to celebrate the milestone. Attendees included Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle and Rolling Meadows Mayor Lara Sanoica.

"Expanding Pace's Northwest Cook On-Demand service reflects our continued commitment to ensuring residents have reliable, flexible, and equitable transportation options," Preckwinkle said. "This innovative service connects people to jobs, schools, healthcare, and other essential destinations — particularly in areas where traditional fixed‑route service may not fully meet community needs."

Pace Director Chris Canning thanked local partners for their collaboration, including the City of Rolling Meadows and the Villages of Arlington Heights, Palatine, and Mount Prospect, along with other participating communities that helped make the expansion possible. Pace also acknowledged the support of Cook County, which they said helped fund the service expansion through its Invest in Cook grant program.

Northwest Cook On Demand is one of 11 Pace On-Demand services operating across the region. Riders can book trips within 10 minutes using a mobile app, traveling within the local service zone for a shared-ride experience. The service costs $4 for a round trip. Expanded service hours allow reservations from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
