Park Officials Focus on Future Plans

Aging facilities and public image are two areas Arlington Heights Park District officials say they need to improve over the next three to five years.

As renovations begin this week on one Arlington Heights projects, officials are talking about future challenges facing the district - including improving other aging structures, the Chicago Tribune reports. Park officials, who met this month to plan out strategy for the next three to give years, also cited repairing its image as one of its challenges, the publication reports.

Work on the Camelot Community center begins this week, but officials needs funds to improve other park facilities in the community as well. Two referendum attempts to do so failed last year. In the mean time, there are high programming needs in the community, which include wait lists for popular programs, which the district cannot meet right now. That also leads officials to believe they need to focus on the park district's image.
