Person Breaks Into LA Fitness, Extinguishes Fire Hydrants: Arlington Heights PD Blotter

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — The following information comes from the Arlington Heights Police Department and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. VIOLATION OF BAIL BOND

Ronald J. Brainer, 32, of the 200 block of E. New York Street, Aurora, had a warrant for violation of bail bond, and was arrested at 7:15 p.m. July 1, at Arlington Heights Road and the westbound ramp of I-90.

POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE

Cody H. Lang, 23, of the 3800 block of N. Nora Avenue, Chicago, is accused of possession of a controlled substance, had a warrant for violation of bail bond, and was arrested at 8:58 p.m. June 30, in the 2300 block of S. Arlington Heights Road. He was released and assigned a court date of Aug. 6.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

Ryan A. Lanham, 38, of the 300 block of Wood Creek Road, Wheeling, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding 26 to 34 mph over the speed limit, and was arrested at 11:53 p.m. June 28, in the 1200 block of S. Arlington Heights Road. He was released and assigned a court date of July 29.

BURGLARY

Laniya Z. Williams, 22, of the 50 block of E. 156th Street, Harvey, is accused of burglary, retail theft, criminal damage to property, and was arrested at 2 p.m. July 3, in the 2100 block of Euclid Avenue, Rolling Meadows. A court date of July 3 was assigned.

INCIDENTS

BURGLARY

An employee at LA Fitness, 960 W. Dundee Road, reported that between June 19 and June 23, someone had pried open the back door, made entry and subsequently discharged several fire extinguishers and damage several lockers.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO VEHICLE

  • A citizen reported that between 9 p.m. and 10:45 p.m. June 25, someone had used an unknown object to shatter the rear window on her 2024 Mazda in the 500 block of W. Thomas Avenue.
  • A driver traveling eastbound on Dundee Road at 6:30 p.m. June 27, reported someone had thrown an object from the side of road, striking her sliver Hyundai and damaging the windshield. The person was described as a white male, wearing a black t-shirt and black shorts.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

  • An employee at Julian Auto Body, 625 N. Kaspar Ave., reported that between 5 p.m. June 27 and 7 a.m. June 28, someone had used white and silver spray paint to draw a phallic image on the fence located on the northeast side of the business.
  • A resident in the 1000 block of N. Patton Avenue called police at 12:15 a.m. June 28, to report someone had set off fireworks near her detached garage, causing damage to the door and siding. Those involved were seen speeding away from the area in two vehicles with loud exhausts.

RETAIL THEFT

An employee at Ulta, 13 W. Rand Road, reported at 7:07 p.m. June 28, someone had stolen approximately $1,100 worth of products. The person was described as a white male, with dark brown hair, wearing dark sunglasses, white t shirt, dark-colored jeans, with a tattoo on his right forearm.
