Raja Outpaces Opponents in Race for Congress
Builds 19 to 1 Fundraising Lead Over Nearest Opponent.

U.S. House Democratic candidate Raja Krishnamoorthi today announced that his campaign for Congress in the 8th District of Illinois opened up a 19 to 1 financial lead over his nearest fundraising opponent, State Senator Michael Noland, who spent more money than he raised in the fourth fundraising quarter of 2015. Noland brought in $67,739 and spent 110% of the money he raised in Q4, or $74,827.
Raja raised $453,279 in the fourth fundraising quarter of 2015 and had $1,272,229 cash on hand in the race to succeed Rep. Tammy Duckworth and represent the working families of the northwest Chicago suburbs.
“I look forward to spreading my message of helping more Americans find good jobs and help grow and strengthen the middle class,” Krishnamoorthi said.

In addition to Raja’s fundraising advantage over his opponents, Raja is backed by U.S. Senator Dick Durbin, the state’s top Democrat.
“Raja has impressed me with his focus on fighting for working families to help build and grow a vibrant middle class in America that is the most certain way to move our economy forward,” said Durbin, who holds the second highest ranking position among Senate Democrats as Senate Minority Whip. “Raja is a strong progressive and the best choice to succeed Tammy Duckworth and represent the hardworking taxpayers of the northwest Chicago suburbs. The product of humble roots, Raja will make sure that the same programs that were there for his family, like quality public schools and Social Security and Medicare, will be there for future generations.”
