Resident Finds Burned U.S. Flag At Home: Arlington Heights PD Blotter

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — The following information comes from the Arlington Heights Police Department and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court.

POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA

A 34-year-0ld woman is accused of possession of drug paraphernalia, improper use of registration, operation of a vehicle without registration, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 4:36 p.m. Oct. 12, in the 90 block of W. Algonquin Road. Bond was set at $2,500 and a court date of Oct. 31 was assigned.

A 70-year-old man is accused of leaving the scene of an accident, and was arrested at 3:45 p.m. Oct. 11, at W. Elm Street nd N. Ridge Avenue. Bond was set at $2,500 and a court date of Oct. 28 was assigned.

FORGERY

Kristoffer K. Guinto, 31, is accused of forgery, and was arrested at 5 a.m. Oct. 13, at Currency Exchange, 1700 block of W. Algonquin Road. Bond was set at $50,000 and a court date of Oct. 14 was assigned.

DOMESTIC BATTERY

Timothy Kavanaugh, 48, is accused of two counts of domestic battery, and was arrested at 11:53 p.m. Oct. 12, in the 1600 block of E. Central Road. Bond was set at $10,000 and a court date of Nov. 3 was assigned.

NO DRIVER'S LICENSE

A 26-year-old woman is accused of driving with no driver's license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 11:57 p.m. Oct. 7, at Rand and Hintz roads. Bond was set at $2,500 and a court date of Oct. 28 was assigned.

SALE OF LIQUOR TO A MINOR

A 50-year-old woman is accused of selling liquor to a minor (person under 21 years of age), and was arrested at 5 p.m. Oct. 13, at Value Fresh Market, 400 block of E. Golf Road. A court date of Nov. 8 was assigned.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

Maria Pineda, 34, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a blood alcohol concentration level of .08 or more, speeding 26-34 mph over the speed limit, and was arrested at 4:29 a.m. Oct 9, at Palatine Road and Windsor Drive. Bond was set at $1,000 and a court date of Nov. 16 was assigned.

VIOLATION OF BAIL BOND

  • Herbert L. Riley, 58, had a warrant for violation of bail bond, and was arrested at 10:04 p.m. Oct. 12, in the 30 block of S. Evergreen Avenue. Bond was set at $7,500.
  • David L. Wilson, 33, had a warrant for violation of bail bond, and was arrested at 6 a.m. Oct. 9, in the 1800 block of S. Arlington Heights Road.

INCIDENTS

THEFT

A citizen called police to report that between 8:15 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. Sept. 27, he accidentally left several items in the break room at Northwest Community Hospital, 800 W. Central Road. When he returned, the following items were missing:

  • a black iPhone 8 plus valued at $300
  • an olive colored nylon Oakley wallet valued at $15
  • house and car keys
  • Illinois driver's license
  • a Chase debit and credit card

BURGLARY

  • Police saw a silver sedan with its headlights on, idling in front of the 1 Fair Price Tobacco store, 39 W. Gold Road, at 3:44 a.m. Sept. 29. The officer found the front door window to be shattered. An employee arrived at the scene and advised several CBD cartridges, valued at $55 each, and the cash register, containing approximately $2,000, missing.
  • A delivery driver reported at 2:10 a.m. Oct. 2, finding the front door window at a Dunkin' Donuts in the 2100 block of S. Arlington Heights Road shattered. Officers arrived on the scene and located two cash registers on the ground and a safe in the office tampered with. An employee said nothing was stolen. A review of the surveillance video showed a gray or silver Honda Odyssey arrive and four subjects exit. The subjects were wearing dark-colored clothing. One subject used a landscaping rock to break the window. All four made entry, checked the cash registers and safe, and left without taking anything.

STOLEN MOTOR VEHICLE

A citizen reported that at 5:15 p.m. Sept. 29, he left his black 2014 Honda running in a parking lot in the 70 block of W. Golf Road. Someone entered the car and drove away. Inside the vehicle was the victim’s iPhone, six debit cards, a Lenovo laptop and a blue gym bag.

RETAIL THEFT

An employee of Ulta, 13 W. Rand Road, reported at 2:44 p.m. Sept. 29, a woman stole 12 bottles of perfume valued at $1,274.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

A resident in the 500 block of E. Seegers Road reported that between 7 p.m. and 11:40 p.m. Sept. 29, someone burned his American flag he had hanging on a flag pole attached to his balcony.
