Residents Speak Out Against Church Parking Lot

The Orchard Evangelical Free Church wants to build a parking lot in the Hickory Meadows Neighborhood.

Residents living in the Hickory Meadows neighborhood voiced opposition over plans to replace eight homes with a church parking lot during a recent Arlington Heights village board meeting, according to the Chicago Tribune. 

The Orchard Evangelical Free Church, 130 N. Douglas Avenue, has issued notices of a plan to add a 200-space parking lot, according to the article. A similar plan by the church in 2011, which was not competed at the time, included demolishing eight church-owned homes in the area to make way for a lot, according to the article.
