When your parents popped in a Neil Diamond tape on repeat during long interstate road trips, you reluctantly sang along. Never thought you'd turn out to be a Diamond fan now, did you?
Neil Diamond is an itch you’ve just got to scratch, and Saint Viator High School can help. On November 1, tribute band Super Diamond will headline the concert “The Diamond Experience” at the school, 1213 E. Oakton in Arlington Heights.

This band is the Diamond gold standard. They’ve been bringing “Brother Love’s Traveling Salvation Show” to the masses (by proxy) for 20 years. Super Diamond is based in San Francisco, and fronted by the legendary Randy “Surreal Neil” Cordero.

Cordero and his sequined shirts have been approved by “Late Show With David Letterman,” as well as the great man himself. The real Neil Diamond attended one of Super Diamond’s concerts, and sang along with the band to “I Am … I Said.” He had to howl through the audience’s shrieks.
“Thank you for doing what you’re doing,” Diamond said.
“Thank you for not suing us,” Cordero replied.
Be warned that there is a risk of a fog machine, confetti cannon, and singing along, with irresistible hits like “Sweet Caroline,” “Cracklin’ Rosie,” “Solitary Man,” “Cherry, Cherry” and more.

The event will begin at 6:30 with a cash bar, a raffle at 7:45 p.m., and the concert at 8. Seats will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets can be picked up at the will-call window in the Saint Viator lobby, and tickets are also available for purchase at the door.
The show is presented by Saint Viator’s Parents’ Club and Patrons of the Arts. Proceeds will benefit Saint Viator’s Faculty Endowment Fund.
