Student Fees Vary by Area School Districts

So just how much are school fees in the area? Patch gathered information from local school districts.

Here's a look at what various districts charge for fees:
District 25
The cost to enroll in Children’s Circle preschool is $260 per month — or $2,360 per year — and a registration fee of $100 also required. Parents of elementary school students pay a $31 textbook materials fee for kindergarten students and $55 fee for first through fifth grades. Middle school students in grades sixth through eighth are required to pay a textbook materials fee as well as an activity fee totaling $108.

District 214
The registration fee for District 214 high schools is $435, if sent by July 31, and $460 after that date. There is a $65 fee for District 214 students who participate in co-curricular activities. Bus transportation is free to students living further than 1.5 miles from their school. Those who live closer than that must pay a $525 bus transportation fee. District 211
District 211 students will pay $160 to cover instructional supplies and textbook fees. Other costs parents may shell out for include a driver’s education fee of $350 and physical education fees of $7 for shorts, $8 for shirts and $9 for locks. For those taking the bus and living less than 1.5 miles from their school, there is a transportation fee of $170.
Students wishing to park in a District 211 parking lot must pay $65 per semester for a permit, according to Tom Petersen, director of community relations for District 211.
District 15
Parents will pay $60 to register their District 15 students for kindergarten for the 2013-14 school year. First through sixth grade students will pay $120 per year to cover the cost of books, materials and technology fees. Parents of seventh and eighth grade students will pay $130 per year.
While students who live 1.5 miles from school will be picked up by bus transportation at no charge, others will have to pay a fee. No stops are made at homes within a half-mile of the schools. Transportation fees made before Aug. 1 are as follows: one child, $370; two children, $470; and three or more children, $570. Payments after Aug. 1 increase by $50.
