Teen Charged After Gun Found In Backpack At Hoffman Estates HS: Police
Three students were charged in connection with a conflict that started on social media and ended with an altercation at school, police said.
HOFFMAN ESTATES, IL — Three students face charges in connection with an altercation Friday at Hoffman Estates High School after which a gun was found in a backpack, police said.
The incident occurred about 7:40 a.m., when three students caused a disturbance in the hallway, which stemmed from a social media conflict, and were taken into custody, according to police. One of the students’ backpacks contained a 9mm handgun, police said, adding the school was briefly placed on a soft lockdown.
Two of the students — all of whom were minors — were charged with disorderly conduct, while the third was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon on school grounds, unlawful possession of ammunition and disorderly conduct, according to police.
