Teen Stabbed To Death Following Fight In Schaumburg: Police

A 17-year-old boy has been taken into custody following the Tuesday evening incident.

SCHAUMBURG, IL — An 18-year-old Elgin resident died Tuesday after being stabbed during a fight with another teenager. Manuel T. Porties, Jr., was taken to AMITA Health Alexian Brothers Medical Center following the 6 p.m. incident, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries, according to a news release.

A 17-year-old boy involved in the physical altercation fled the scene before officers arrived in the 600 block of Sturnbridge Lane, police said. He was later taken into custody following a death investigation by Schaumburg police.

Police responded to the area after receiving a 911 call regarding a fight in progress. Porties was found at the scene suffering from multiple stab wounds, according to the news release. Schaumburg police and paramedics performed life-saving measures on Porties before he was taken to the hospital by the Schaumburg Fire Department.

The case is under review by the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, according to the news release. Police believe it was an isolated incident with no immediate threat to the public.
