Dear Neighbors,
This was a very busy week in Washington. On Monday, I met with members from the American Association of Colleges of Nursing at a reception on Capitol Hill. It was great to meet so many educators who are active in this critical field.
On Tuesday, I met with the Greater Chicago Food Depository to discuss the cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) that take effect today, and how it will impact their organization. In our 8th Congressional District alone, there are 69,480 individuals who are food insecure.

On Wednesday, I spoke to the Manufacturers Alliance for Productivity and Innovation. It was great to meet so many people committed to manufacturing and regulation reform. We also discussed my Small Business Paperwork Relief Act which could help many manufacturers across Illinois.
I also met with members of the Illinois Farm Bureau this week. We discussed the possibility of passing a farm bill in Congress this year.
