The Duckworth Diary - November 22, 2013

Dear Neighbors,

I spent the whole weekend at home, where I held a Congress at Your Corner in Wood Dale, and volunteered with the PACT Humane Society in Bloomingdale. It was great to meet so many of my neighbors.

This week, I met with the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers & Trainmen to discuss current rail safety issues and what Congress can do to improve them.

Additionally, I participated in an Oversight and Government Reform subcommittee hearing to discuss how Congress can prevent bad actors from gaming critical federal disability programs.

On Wednesday, I spoke to the employees of the Library of Congress in honor of Disability Employment Awareness Month. It was great to meet so many public servants committed to disability awareness.

At the end of the week, I attended a Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus briefing with USAID and the Department of Defense regarding aid to the Philippines after the tragic typhoon they experienced earlier this month. If you would like to help those affected by the typhoon, click here

I hope you had a great week.

Sincerely,

Congresswoman Duckworth
