Trustee Candidate Tinaglia Endorses Hayes for Arlington Heights Mayor
The Arlington Heights trustee candidate said he carefully weighed his decision, and believes Thomas Hayes, a 22-year village trustee, is the best candidate for village president.

Newcomer Jim Tinglia, one of five candidates running for Arlington Heights trustee, officially endorsed Thomas Hayes for mayor/village president Friday.
Hayes has been a trustee for the last 22 years, and is running for mayor against Mark Hellner and Ron Drake.
Tinaglia said the decision for him did not come lightly.

“I have been very careful over the last few months, I wanted to learn about all three candidates before I made this decision, it would have been very easy for me to ride this out to the very end of the campaign,” Tinaglia said.
He referenced the possible backlash from Arlington Heights voters who support other candidates for mayor, and how that could affect the outcome of his campaign.

“I came to the conclusion that it’s more important for me to support Tom, than to worry about myself getting the most votes. It’s really about what I think is the best choice for this community, and not about whether I get elected,” Tinaglia said.
In a prepared statement, Tinaglia referenced the fact that Hayes is the senior trustee on the village board, in addition to his honesty and straightforward style.
He added that the respect he has gained over the years from the community also weighed into his decision to endorse Hayes.
“The definition of leadership is taking the best available and putting it where it is needed most,” the release stated.
Tinaglia is running against four incumbent village trustees: Joseph Farmell, Norman Breyer, Bert Rosenberg and Thomas Glasgow.
