Village Doubles Amount of Funds for Sewer Rebate Program

The Arlington Heights village board this past week approved doubling the amount of money for rebate program that helps fund private overhead sewers, which are required by code in the village and are meant to protect against sewer back-up issues during heavy rains, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Most homes built before 1975 in Arlington Heights do not have a overhead sewer system, and the program offers residents up to 50 percent of the cost to install the overhead sewers, "offering up to $7,500," according to the article.

The Chicago Tribune reports the village began the program last spring, budgeting $125,000 for the first year, and has budget $250,000 for this coming fiscal year due to the popularity of the program.
