Woman Set Fire To Apartment, Displacing Tenants: Arlington Heights Police

Paula Cristina Sanchez is charged with one count of aggravated arson, a Class X felony, police said.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — An Arlington Heights woman is accused of setting fire to her apartment, starting a blaze that left four units uninhabitable, according to police.

Paula Cristina Sanchez, 51, is charged with one count of aggravated arson, a Class X felony, police said.

Emergency personnel responded around 4 p.m. Thursday to the building in the 300 block of East Seegers Road, according to police, where they found billowing smoke and flames. All residents escaped uninjured, police said.

Sanchez appeared Friday in Cook County court in Rolling Meadows, where she was ordered to be held in custody until her next court date Nov. 6, according to police. If convicted, she would face six to 30 years in prison, police said.
