15 Years In Prison For Aurora Man Convicted of Child Sex Assaults

AURORA, IL — A Kane County judge sentenced an Aurora man to spend 15 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting two juveniles, according to the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office. Jose L. Baca, 38, will also have to register for life as a sex offender after accepting prosecutors’ plea deal.
Baca agreed to the 15-year sentence on March 19 in exchange for pleading guilty to felony charges of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and aggravated criminal sexual abuse, according to a news release from Kane County State’s Attorney Joseph McMahon.
Baca sexually assaulted and sexually abused two juveniles between March 2011 and March 2018, Kane County Assistant State’s Attorney Matthew Rodgers said in court. Both were under the age of 13 when the assaults first began, according to prosecutors.

Kane County Associate Judge Charles Petersen sentenced Baca to spend eight years in prison for predatory criminal sexual assault and seven years for aggravated criminal sexual abuse, the release states. Both sentences will run consecutively.
Baca must serve at least 85 percent of the eight-year sentence under Illinois law. He will receive credit for spending almost two years in the Kane County Adult Corrections Center before pleading guilty, according to prosecutors.

He is currently serving his prison sentence at the Stateville Correctional Center in Crest Hill, according to Illinois Department of Corrections records.
