2,000 Grams Of Cannabis, Firearm Recovered During Search Of Aurora House: ISP

A 24-year-old Aurora man was charged with several weapons and cannabis-related charges following the investigation, police said.

AURORA, IL — A 24-year-old Aurora man was taken into custody after police discovered him to be in possession of a firearm and about 2,000 grams of cannabis, Illinois State Police said Wednesday.

Estevon D. Vargas was arrested April 6 following an "extensive illegal cannabis investigation," officials said. He was charged with armed violence, two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon and additional felony weapons and cannabis-related offenses.

Kendall County Police Assistance Team, in conjunction with the Aurora Police Department, executed a search warrant at Vargas's residence in the 300 block of Michigan Avenue, where officers recovered a firearm, 2,000 grams of cannabis and other cannabis products, according to a news release.

Investigators took Vargas into custody without incident. He is being held at the Kane County jail, with his next court date scheduled for April 22.
