2 Dead After Motorcycle, Minivan Crash On Aurora's West Side: Police

The motorcyclist and minivan passenger were transported with life-threatening injuries to a hospital where they later died, police said.

AURORA, IL — Two Aurora residents died after a motorcycle and minivan crashed on the city's west side Saturday morning, according to police.

Police officers and firefighters were dispatched near the intersection of West Galena Boulevard and Russell Avenue around 10 a.m. Saturday. Through the initial investigation, police determined the motorcycle was driving east on Galena Boulevard when it collided with the passenger side of a minivan driving west on Russell Avenue.

The motorcycle driver and minivan passenger were transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries where they were later pronounced dead, according to police. Officials identified the motorcycle driver as Robert W. Neis, 58, of the 3300 block of Moraine Drive in Aurora, and the minivan passenger as Hilda Diaz, 42, of the 200 block of Eastern Avenue in Aurora.

The intersection where the crash occurred was closed for several hours Saturday while Aurora Police Department's Traffic Division conducted an investigation, which included using state-of-the-art drone technology to create a 3D map of the scene.

The crash remains under investigation as of Monday, according to police.
