AURORA, IL — A two-story, single-family home in the 500 block of West Park Avenue caught fire Friday morning. Although no residents were home at the time, two dogs were inside when the fire broke out, officials said.

One dog, a pit bull, was found unconscious and not breathing on the first floor, but the second dog, a chihuahua, was not located, according to the Aurora Fire Department. Paramedics successfully revived the pit bull after providing oxygen to the dog for 15 minutes.

Firefighters were deployed to the structure fire at 11:59 a.m. Friday. As they pulled up to the neighborhood, units saw a large column of smoke in the distance, officials said. Once at the house, crews found heavy fire showing from the back of the first floor.
