2 Shooting Victims Identified As 24-Year-Old Men: Aurora Police
Aurora detectives opened a homicide investigating the shooting that left one dead and one critically injured Saturday afternoon.
AURORA, IL — After a shooting Saturday afternoon left one person dead and one in critical condition, Aurora police identified the victims as 24-year-old men.
A 911 call came in just after 2 p.m. Saturday to report two gunshot victims in the 300 block of Center Avenue. After Aurora Fire Department paramedics arrived on the scene, one person was pronounced dead and the other was transported to a local hospital before he was airlifted to a Chicago trauma center, officials said.
Police identified the man who died as Ferrer Vincente Velasquez, of the 300 block of Center Avenue. Officials continue to withhold the identity of the man who remains in critical condition as of Monday evening.

Detectives and evidence technicians responded to the scene to investigate the "specific circumstances of the incident," while officers and detectives canvassed the area to collect potential information from witnesses.
The case is being investigated as a homicide, Patch reported. As part of the investigation, police are asking anyone with information to contact detectives at 630-256-5500 or tips@aurora.il.us.

Anonymous tips can be left by calling Crime Stoppers at 630-892-1000. The group also offers cash rewards of up to $5,000 to "people who furnish information leading to the arrest of felony crime offenders and the capture of felony fugitives," police said.
