22-Year-Old Aurora Man Killed On Far Southeast Side: Police

Ronelle Dortch Jr. was shot shortly before 4 a.m. Sunday in the 2700 block of Village Green Drive, according to Aurora police.

AURORA, IL — A 22-year-old Aurora man died at a local hospital minutes after being shot early Sunday morning on the city’s far southeast side, according to police. Ronelle Dortch Jr. was shot shortly before 4 a.m. Sunday in the 2700 block of Village Green Drive, according to a news release from the Aurora Police Department.

Multiple callers reported shots were fired in that area just before the city's 911 dispatch center received a call from a local hospital stating a man was in critical condition suffering from a gunshot wound, the release states. Dortch died of his injuries at the hospital.

The police department is asking anyone with information about the shooting to call its investigations division at (630) 256-5500 or the Aurora Area Crime Stoppers at (630) 892-1000. Callers can remain anonymous, the release states.
