3 Boys Die After Being Pulled From Lake Michigan

After three boys, ages 14 and 10, drowned, the National Weather Service is warning of "life-threatening conditions" on the lake this week.

ILLINOIS/INDIANA — Three young boys died over the weekend after being pulled from Lake Michigan, and the National Weather Service continues to warn residents of "life-threatening conditions" for swimmers on the lake. On Friday, a 14-year-old was pulled from the lake after authorities said he attempted to swim across a channel near Waukegan Municipal Beach. Tragedy struck again on Saturday, when two boys, ages 10 and 14 from Chicago and Aurora, were pulled from the water within an hour of each other at the same Indiana Dunes State Park beach.

Waukegan Fire Department divers searched for 30 minutes before pulling the 14-year-old from the lake on Friday, and he was taken to an area hospital in critical condition, according to the Daily Herald.

The Lake County (Illinois) Coroner's Office on Sunday confirmed that the boy had died, the Chicago Tribune reported. His name was being withheld as of Sunday night.
