Officials said the men stole two guns from the house after attempting, and failing, to open a safe late Wednesday night.

AURORA, IL — Three men wearing masks and armed with handguns forcefully entered an Aurora home late Wednesday night, according to the Kane County Sheriff's Office.

Around 9:54 p.m., sheriff's deputies responded to a residence in the 1600 block of Solfisburg Avenue in unincorporated Aurora after receiving a 911 call about the home invasion. After kicking in the front door, the men unsuccessfully attempted to open a safe, but they stole two guns before fleeing, according to deputies.

While the gunmen shuffled through the house, the resident was pushed to the ground and held there, according to Sheriff Ronald Hain.
