3 New Administrators Appointed For West Aurora District 129

The appointments fill the roles of assistant principals at Washington Middle and Greenman Elementary and director of technology support.

AURORA, IL — With more than a month left until the 2022-23 school year begins, schools are getting ready to welcome students back. In West Aurora School District 129, the appointments of three new administrators have been approved by the Board of Education Monday.

Regina Coyle, who served as an elementary assistant principal at the district, will assume the role of assistant principal of operations at Washington Middle School. Kyle Freise, new to the district, will serve as director of technology support services after coming to Aurora from Hinsdale Township High School District 86, where he worked as the network administrator.

The third appointment filled the role of Greenman Elementary School's assistant principal. Katherine R. Renz, also new to District 129, previously served as the assistant director of the deaf and hard-of-hearing program for Oswego Community Unit School District 308.

Regina Coyle

Coyle worked as an elementary-level assistant principal for four years, most recently at Goodwin Elementary School. In the role, her responsibilities included assisting in developing the master schedule, coordinating student assessments and addressing discipline issues.

Before she became an assistant principal, she taught fifth and sixth grade at Worth School District 127 for seven years while also working as an adjunct professor in Saint Xavier University's music department. She began her educational career as a science instructional coach at William H. Brown Elementary School in Chicago.

"I am delighted to be joining the administrative team at Washington Middle School," Coyle said in a statement. "My professional goal is to provide all students with an excellent education and inspire a lifelong culture of collaboration, innovation, and leadership. I am looking forward to meeting the students, staff, and parents of the Washington school community."

Coyle holds a bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering from the National University of Ireland Galway, a master's in elementary education from Dominican University, and a principal endorsement license from DePaul University.

Kyle Freise

In his former role at District 86 in Hinsdale, Freise expanded and optimized network design and enhanced the firewall system in order to provide secure remote access for staff. Before his time in Hinsdale, he worked as a network analyst for Batavia Public School District 101 for 10 years. In the Batavia district, he upgraded physical network switches and firewalls and also implemented a new wireless network across the district.

"I am excited to serve the community I lived in for over a decade and plan to improve upon the high standards of West Aurora," Freise said in a statement. "It is my mission to provide a reliable and secure user experience for the staff and students of School District 129."

Freise holds a bachelor's degree in applied computer science from Northern Illinois University.

In the past school year, working as the assistant director for the deaf and hard-of-hearing program at District 308, Renz evaluated staff members, balanced the needs of individual students in the program with the staff in each building and worked in partnership with outside districts to place students.

Renz comes to District 129 with six years of special education leadership experience, having also served as the deaf and hard-of-hearing program administrator as well as the special education program administrator at Oswego's school district.

Officials said her classroom experience includes being a hearing itinerant teacher in Elgin Area School District U46 and a special education teacher in Batavia Public School District 101.

"I am excited to be given the opportunity to work with School District 129," Renz said in a statement. "I look forward to meeting and working with Greenman Elementary as my new school community."

Renz holds a bachelor's degree in education from Northern Illinois University, a master's degree in educational leadership from Concordia University, and a director of special education endorsement from the University of St. Francis.
