5 Student-Athletes, 1 Coach Will Be Newest D129 Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees
The five students who will be inducted graduated from West Aurora High School between 1962 and 2006.

AURORA, IL — Five student-athletes and a coach will be the latest addition to the West Aurora Athletic Hall of Fame. The Athletic Hall of Fame Committee, along with anyone from the public wanting to join, will celebrate the 2022 inductees at a reception dinner planned for Jan. 29.
The alumni and staff honorees include:
- Bill Taylor, Class of 1962
- Football, wrestling and track
- Mike Simmons, Class of 1991
- Basketball
- Jamaal Thompson, Class of 2001
- Basketball
- Courtney Brooks Felix, Class of 2006
- Tennis and badminton
- Kim Hunley, Class of 2006
- Golf
- Skip Ulrich, Coach
The West Aurora Hall of Fame Committee chooses inductees who made "outstanding contributions" to the West Aurora High School athletic program, district officials said in a news release. People inducted can be student-athletes, coaches or someone associated with a sport.

"These contributions will have resulted in not only local but regional, state or national recognition. Additionally, these individuals have demonstrated high levels of character, leadership, and sportsmanship while representing West Aurora High School," officials wrote.
Beginning at 4 p.m. in the Veterans Memorial Fieldhouse at West Aurora High School, 1201 W. New York St., the newest members will be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

The free reception will take place before the varsity boy's basketball game that night, where they will face Glenbard East High School. Tickets to the 6 p.m. game will be $5 at door 15.
