50 Red Flags Of Drug Abuse: West Aurora Program Announced

District 129 is sponsoring "The Wake Up Call," a free, adults-only program that explores 50 red flags of drug abuse.

AURORA, IL — A teenager's bedroom can hide signs of drug and alcohol use. To help spot them and teach adults about current drug trends, West Aurora School District 129 is hosting a program March 3 that will explore 50 red flags of drug abuse.

The event, taking place from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Herget Middle School, 1550 Deerpath Road in Aurora, is free and open to adults ages 21 and older. The "Wake Up Call" presentation, in partnership with nonprofit organization Your Choice to Live, is geared toward parents, teachers, grandparents and community members who have an influence on a teenager.

"The rise in the use of vaping devices and other substances among youth is a growing concern," reads a poster about the event. "Are you familiar with carts? Dabs? Box mods? If you have young people in your life, you should be."
