56 West Aurora High School Seniors Named State Scholars
"Their academic success is a testament to the outstanding students, faculty, and families we have in West Aurora," WAHS lead counselor said.
AURORA, IL — Top-performing West Aurora High School students have been honored as Illinois State Scholars. West Aurora School District 129 officials announced this year, 56 seniors have earned the designation.
The state's college access and financial aid agency, Illinois Student Assistance Commission, presents this recognition to exceptional students annually. This year, more than 17,340 were honored, joining the many who have been honored since the title was introduced in 1958, according to a news release.
To be eligible, students must perform in the top one-half of their high school class at the end of their junior year. They also have to score at or above the 95th percentile on the ACT or SAT.

"We are very proud to have another great group of young men and women represent West Aurora High School as Illinois State Scholars," Steve John, lead school counselor, said in a statement. "These students have worked incredibly hard and navigated a very unique learning environment over the last two years. Their academic success is a testament to the outstanding students, faculty, and families we have in West Aurora."
By being chosen a State Scholar, each student receives a congratulatory letter and a certificate of achievement from ISAC. Students are also able to down an officials Illinois State Scholar badge to display on their online profiles.
