Two cats were also rescued after a fire swept through the two-story townhouse divided into four units.

AURORA, IL — Seven residents were displaced after a fire erupted Saturday at a two-story townhouse in the 1800 block of Carnation Court, officials said.

A total of 24 firefighters were dispatched to the structure fire around 4:33 p.m. after callers advised there could be people trapped inside.

Once there, crews found heavy fire showing from Unit C — the townhouse was split into four units. As some firefighters began extinguishing the flames, others searched for victims, finding none. However, they did locate and rescue two cats, according to Public Information Officer Jim Rhodes.
