AURORA, IL — Eight young writers were celebrated this weekend for publishing their first books.

Children and teens between the ages of 5 and 16 gathered with their families at the Aurora Public Library to unveil their new books. They each had the chance to read their books aloud, sell copies and sign their first autographs, according to a news release.

The youth authors were part of the third class of Dream Scribers, a free 12-week program that assists kids with writing, publishing and marketing their books. The graduates were also able to improve skills in self-expression, strengthen critical thinking and enhance vocabulary and public speaking skills.
