UIC Athlete Killed In Wrong-Way Crash In Aurora: Reports

AURORA, IL — A University of Illinois at Chicago athlete was among the three people killed early Sunday in a wrong-way crash on Interstate 88 in Aurora, according to reports.

Sariyah Watson, a 21-year-old student who was a sprinter on the university's track team, was traveling to visit her mom for Mother's Day when she was killed in the crash, according to a report from People magazine.

Watson was a junior at UIC majoring in sports management, according to ABC7.

"No script can be written that will allow you to accept this type of tragic loss," her father told ABC7.

The collision happened around 4 a.m. Sunday on the westbound side of the road at milepost 112.25 in Aurora, Illinois State Police said. A vehicle was traveling east and hit the head-on.

The striking vehicle was occupied solely by the driver, while there were two people in the car that was hit, Patch reported.

A 21-year-old woman traveling with Watson and the driver of the other car, a 32-year-old man, also died, People reported.
