UIC Athlete, 2 Others Killed In Wrong-Way Crash Near Aurora ID'd: Coroner
Three people were killed in a wrong-way crash over the weekend on Interstate 88, according to state police.
AURORA, IL — A University of Illinois at Chicago athlete was among the three people killed early Sunday in a wrong-way crash on Interstate 88 near Aurora, according to the Kane County Coroner's Office.
Sariyah Watson, a 21-year-old student who was a sprinter on the university's track team, was traveling along with a friend to visit her mom for Mother's Day when she was killed in the crash, according to a report from People magazine.
Watson was a junior at UIC majoring in sports management, according to ABC7.

The Kane County Coroner's Office identified the passenger in the car with Watson as Heaven Williams, a 21-year-old woman from DeKalb. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle that hit Watson's was 32-year-old Jonathan Rivera, of Melrose Park.

"No script can be written that will allow you to accept this type of tragic loss," Watson's father told ABC7.
The collision happened around 4 a.m. Sunday on the westbound side of the road at milepost 112.25 in Sugar Grove, Illinois State Police said. A vehicle was traveling east and hit the head-on.
