2. 1 Business Caught Selling Nicotine To Undercover Cadet In Latest APD Sting (patch.com) — Aurora police recently ran undercover alcohol and tobacco compliance checks, and one 7-Eleven on W. Sullivan Road was cited for selling nicotine to an underage cadet while eight other businesses passed. The Special Operations Group says these stings help keep nicotine, alcohol, and vape products away from minors and are part of broader efforts to reduce crime across Aurora.
3. Kane County Health Department to host training on medication that reverses opioid overdoses (chicagotribune.com) — Aurora residents can attend a free naloxone training at the Kane County Health Department's Aurora office on Aug. 31, where they'll learn to recognize opioid overdoses and receive a free kit. The county reports naloxone saved more than 50 lives in 2024 and also offers maps, treatment directories, and direct help for anyone seeking recovery support.

Aurora Regional Fire Museum voted Best Suburban Museum (thevoice.us) — Aurora's Regional Fire Museum, housed in the historic 1894 Central Fire Station downtown, has been named the Daily Herald Readers' Choice Best Suburban Museum for 2026. With hands-on exhibits, a popular children's discovery room, and recent statewide honors, the museum is being recognized as a must-visit stop for families and history lovers across the Aurora area.
