Another Bomb Threat Hoax Targets Aurora Libraries Thursday
The incident Thursday was the second this week to force an evacuation of the city's three public libraries.
AURORA, IL — Aurora’s three public library braches were evacuated Thursday — for the second time this week — due to an apparent bomb threat hoax, according to authorities.
The library system posted on social media around 11:30 a.m. that there was a “bomb threat and active shooter situation.” About 45 minutes later, in a follow-up post, the library district clarified there were no active threats, but that the libraries at River Street, Eola Road and Constitution Drive would stay closed until further notice.
Aurora police Lt. Joseph Howe said the threats appeared to be a hoax. Normal business had resumed at the library as of early Thursday afternoon.
